Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Sewing Machinist to join our team, specialising in the production of high-quality upholstery for bespoke furniture. The role involves crafting upholstery for chairs, reclining sofas, care chairs, hospital chairs, and other custom furniture. The ideal candidate will have experience operating flatbed or overlocker sewing machines and a keen eye for detail to ensure all items meet bespoke quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Sew and assemble upholstery components for bespoke furniture, including chairs, sofas, and specialised seating, to meet customer specifications.
• Operate flatbed and/or overlocker sewing machines efficiently and safely.
• Work with a variety of fabrics and materials, including leather, vinyl, and textiles, to produce high-quality finishes.
• Interpret and follow detailed technical drawings and patterns for bespoke furniture designs.
• Inspect materials and completed items to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Collaborate with the upholstery and production teams to ensure seamless integration of components.
• Maintain sewing machines and ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist, preferably within the bespoke furniture or upholstery industry.
• Proficiency in operating flatbed and/or overlocker sewing machines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision to meet bespoke design standards.
• Knowledge of different fabric types and their applications in upholstery.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
• Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in sewing and assembling upholstery for bespoke furniture.
• Familiarity with modern sewing techniques and equipment.
• Certification in sewing machine operation or textile production (preferred).
